Fall of 2018: In the Valley of the Moon is a collection of photographs I took while studying in Jordan. The "Valley of the Moon" is another name for the desert Wadi Rum, in the South of Jordan.
The bulk of the photos in this collection were taken in the south of Jordan, in places like Petra and Wadi Rum. This was my first major travel photography adventure, so I was focusing on capturing the feeling of the place - expansive, old, and very quiet.
Animals are some of my favorite photography subjects - they have so much energy and character. There were many stray cats in Jordan, and I met quite a few horses, donkeys, and camels as well.
This was the first time I'd taken my camera with me on my travels, and I had a lot of fun finding good subjects for my photos. Some, like the cup of piping-hot mint tea, I could plan a photo around - others, like Marwan the camel, offered me a split second opportunity to get the shot right.
